wide awake: "Petit bout de bois" / "A small piece of wood"

bis 21.05.2025
With a few dolls made of wood and tin cans, the Senegalese artist Mamby Mawine brings the imagination, dreams, and nightmares of street children in Senegal (the "Talibes") to the stage.

Daily, the "Talibés" roam the neighborhoods of Dakar, asking passersby for alms. They are considered the "spirits of our streets" and live with the constant dangers of exploitation. Like puppets, they populate the stage with their mischievous nature. A show full of vitality that highlights everything that makes the street heroes touching and beautiful, inventive and brave.
