The pilot project "Children as Actors in 'early years theatre' Practice" explored the question of how small children aged 0 to 3 years are perceived in society. Their role in social relationships was considered as well as the social value of a theater specifically aimed at the very young.
The results provide important impulses for a changed perspective on small children. Although they are legally protected – in the social sphere, however, they are often not perceived as equal personalities. The notion still predominates that they are merely "becoming" people – and not yet fully-fledged ones. How can a "Theater from the Beginning" respond to these insights?
