Now it gets colorful in Bottrop. The Josef Albers Museum Quadrat is bringing in four international artists with a lot of color into the spaces of the new extension building.
The Venezuelan Carlos Cruz-Diez (1923-2019) shows abstract form patterns and geometric color figures that play with our perception. The American artist Polly Apfelbaum (born 1955) spreads out with her vibrant "Fallen Paintings" on the floor. Christof John (born 1984) confuses the eye with irregularities in his geometric color-form compositions. And the German-born Carla Black, born in 1972, impresses with pastel-colored sculptures that effortlessly occupy the space.
