Life is not only full of risks – it is one itself. Every decision can change everything. This is what Annemarie Schwarzenbacher's "Lyrical Novella" tells, from which actress Lavinia Wilson reads.
The focus is on a young man who decides against the predetermined path to a diplomatic career and instead follows the allure of Berlin's nightlife – drawn to the variety singer Sibylle. The relationship remains hopeless, and thus the narrator loses himself in alcohol, illness, and loneliness – but keeps returning to her with longing. Originally, Schwarzenbacher intended to create the character as a woman, but to enable a publication, she made him a man.
Nora Schramm's debut novel "Hollow Spaces" also deals with hidden feelings: while clearing out her parents' apartment, the narrator comes across traces of a past in which her parents existed as a couple – not just as mother and father. A discovery that fundamentally changes the perspective on one's own family and origins.
The musical framework is provided by Mina Richmann. The queer singer-songwriter processes themes such as self-discovery, development, and freedom in her songs – and creates an intense, personal space of resonance with her voice and lyrics.
The event takes place at Gut Bustedt – between the biology center, old walls, and forests, the place itself becomes a symbol for exploring, remembering, and rediscovering.
