The author Maren Kames reads from her latest novel "Hasenprosa," while Jördi Triebel recites from Lewis Carroll's "Alice Through the Looking-Glass." The duo Oxymoron musically accompanies the two.

Childhood is more than a state, it is a feeling. While we as children can hardly await anything more eagerly than to grow up, we often long for that very time back later, when the world was still somewhat simpler and cozier. The actress and multiple recipient of the German Film Award Jördis Triebel draws us in with her voice into Lewis Carroll's novel ‹Alice Through the Looking-Glass› and into the wondrous otherworld. Alice returns to Wonderland and this time she must confront the challenges of emancipation from child to woman. And that in a world where everything seems to be upside down, where memories do not reach into the past, but into the future and familiar rules no longer apply.

Similar yet entirely different, the second text of the evening awaits: Maren Kames ‹Hasenprosa›. The author's latest novel made it onto the shortlist of the German Book Prize 2024. It is the story of someone who sets out with her stuffed rabbit to learn about adulthood while traversing her own family history, pop culture, and literary conventions and genres in a cross-country manner.

The evening is musically complemented by the harpist Anna Steinkogler and the accordion player Valentin Butt as the duo Oxymoron.
