“In architecture, it's about the future” – this is how Bolle Tham and Martin Videgård describe their approach to building. Their designs represent clear forms, strong colors, and a dialogue with the place – awarded numerous prizes, for example, for the Art Museum Kalmar.
At the “Lecture on Architecture,” the Swedish architect duo is a guest in the Knowledge Workshop City of Bielefeld – a place that itself stands for the change of architecture and use: built in 1928 as a savings bank branch, later a city library with the oldest escalator in East Westphalia, today an innovative space for exchange, research, and mediation.
The building reflects this ambition: with an open window front, flexibly usable foyer, and an architecture that invites participation. An ideal setting for Tham & Videgård, whose work stands for a contemporary, yet future-oriented design language – between functionality, clarity, and surprise.
The evening will be musically accompanied by jazz pianist Christian Stiefel and trombonist Adrian Mears.
The lecture will be simultaneously translated from English to German.
