"Oracle" - A theatrical, multimedia exploration tour about Alan Turing, AI, and the dark soul of technology.

Alan Turing cracked the Enigma code, shortened World War II, and he was a pioneer of modern computer technology, only to be persecuted by his own government because of his sexual orientation. With the multimedia play Oracle by playwright Anka Herbut, Łukasz Twarkowski returns to the Ruhrtriennale. In 2022, he was already represented at the festival with his play Respublika. Together, they address Turing's tragic life and his legacy. Oracle is set in post-war England as well as in a timeless, digital space and examines the politicization of technology. Immersive soundscapes and cinematic projections blur the line between reality and illusion. To what extent can the latest technology still be distinguished from magic? With astonishing visual means, Oracle reflects on Turing's secrets, prophetic insights, and the AI-driven future that he paved the way for.

A production by Dailes Theatre Latvia and Ruhrtriennale in co-production with Newerror, Comédie de Genève, Piccolo Teatro di Milano - Teatro d'Europa.
