By the early 18th century, the recorder was extremely popular in the opera city of Venice. After all, no other wind instrument seemed to come closer to the human voice. The solo concertos composed by the Venetian Antonio Vivaldi for the alto or soprano recorder move between virtuosic furioso and airy beauty. Three of his incredibly effective concertos have been selected by Daniel Rothert, who is regarded as one of the leading recorder players. He is accompanied by the Camerata Augustina, which made its celebrated debut here in Brühl in 2024 as the "little sister" of the Capella Augustina. The performance is led by the internationally performing Baroque violinist, chamber musician, and ensemble founder Mónica Waisman. This uplifting Baroque concert is rounded off by chamber sonatas of the Italy-traveling and naturalized Englishman Handel.
