The ensemble Quinton has its origins in the Federal Youth Orchestra, where the musicians met and played together under renowned conductors for several years. The members of the ensemble share a great passion for chamber music, which led to the idea in 2020 of coming together as a woodwind quintet. The ensemble receives regular lessons from José Luis Estellès, Christian Wetzel, and Tobias Pelkner. Important impulses for the quintet were given by Martin Spangenberg and Norbert Kaiser, among others. Since 2021, the ensemble Quinton has been supported by the Mozart Society Dortmund. In 2022, it also received funding from the Klaus Geske Foundation Erftstadt. Since 2023, the ensemble Quinton has been a scholarship ensemble of Villa Musica Rhineland-Palatinate. In the same year, it was awarded a scholarship at the German Music Competition 2023 and was included in the concert promotion of the German Music Competition 24/25.
The ensemble Quinton - with flutist Alexandra Forstner, Fabian Sahm on oboe, José Serrano Campos on clarinet, and Tobias Reikow on bassoon, and Simon Mayer on horn - has received various awards, including the Bonn Rotary Music Prize of the German Music Competition and the erftclassics Award. The young woodwind quintet is regularly featured at festivals such as the Summer Music Days Hitzacker and the Gezeitenkonzerten. The young musicians perform alongside artists such as Matthias Kirschnereit and participate in radio productions. The ensemble members play in renowned orchestras across Germany.
