Homage to a pioneer of electronic music.

Wendy Carlos is one of the most important living figures in the history of electronic music. In addition to her musical work for Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, and Disney's Tron, she made music history with her album Switched on Bach (1968): as the first person, she translated classical music into the synthetic sounds of the Moog synthesizer, which at the time was more of a cabinet than an instrument, larger than a human, and only operable by those with a highly virtuosic technical understanding. This revolutionary album made her the first trans woman to win a Grammy.

Will Gregory, keyboardist, producer, and composer of the electropop duo Goldfrapp, heard Wendy Carlos' Bach transcriptions for the first time on the radio. The album laid a foundation for his artistic development. This inspiration is also evident in his concerts with the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble. Eight keyboard virtuosos equipped with rarities from the golden age of analog mono synthesizers present a program of original compositions and arrangements that bring Wendy Carlos' work to life. Works by Bach, Handel, and Purcell, as well as adaptations of younger treasures of music history and excerpts from her latest album Heat Ray, are performed in the concert.
