
She, a Black woman, finds her purpose in the American civil rights movement and raises her voice in passionate protest. He, a white man, remains in the small town of Watertown, and intertwined with the familiar, seeks his meaning in the past and not in the future. The woman is uplifted by her transformation. The man is stuck in a stagnant life. Their feelings unfold solely through music – duets and solos weave love and longing, harmony and conflict, liberation and loss. “I Did It My Way” was inspired by two American music legends: Frank Sinatra and Nina Simone. The rising actress and singer Larissa Sirah Herden (Lary), whose latest film project was recently awarded the Grimme Prize, and Lars Eidinger, one of the most recognized faces in the German theater and film landscape, embody the mismatched couple. They are accompanied by four dancers and a swinging big band.
