With her circus solo, Diana Salles creates an intense theater experience. The Brazilian aerial artist takes the audience on the journey of her transition.
In poetic images of death and rebirth, Salles tells of the feeling many trans people have to "murder" the assigned self in order to make room for the true self. "Delusional – I Killed a Man" shows the depths, the anguish, but also the beauty of this process. At the same time, Salles manages to make very universal aspects of identity and change tangible. Her piece is a political statement for more understanding and empathy towards trans people – an artistic plea for courage, freedom, and (self)love.
Diana Salles studied at the ESAC Circus School in Brussels and has already been awarded multiple times for her work.
