The urge to transcend the boundaries of the everyday self is probably as old as humanity. In ecstasy, the self steps out of its confines, entering an extended present that appears equally cut off from the past and the future. A pathway to this can be opened by the music of the mystic Hildegard of Bingen from the 12th century. Her simple melodies and clear structures exude an archaic pull, and their spiritual dimension appears like a light that enlightens the soul. Together with the light artist Jörg Becker, the cellist Christina Meißner has conceived a concert experience that translates Hildegard's ancient chants to her instrument and combines them with new works by John Palmer. The element of light forms a bridge to touch and transformation; as another universal language, it captures the mood of the music and can support spiritual experiences. An invitation to delight in the irritating, the indefinable, and to engage with unknown experiences and intangible spaces.

On the same evening, Christina C. Messner's concert "Le sacre de mon temps - An interdisciplinary music-theater laboratory format on the theme of sacrifice" will take place from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at St. Gertrud. Combination tickets for both events are available.
