As a member of the group "The Blue Rider," Heinrich Campendonk has found his place in art history. However, his work extends far beyond the well-known expressionist paintings. The exhibition invites you to rediscover the artist.
Heinrich Campendonks (1889–1957) works from his time as the youngest artist in the circle of the "Blue Rider" are known worldwide. However, alongside this phase of painting, the artist created an oeuvre characterized by a surprising variety of artistic genres. He designed stage sets, decorated furniture, and created textiles as well as posters.
The special exhibition places these decorative arts works in the context of his expressionist painting and thereby opens up views on the profound connection between art and life.
