With scissors and scalpel, he set to work: Max Ernst meticulously disassembled the images of human and non-human bodies to then reassemble them into new creatures in his collages. A typical method of Surrealism, which is also being increasingly practiced again today. For this, the exhibition brings together examples from around 20 contemporary artists: hybrid beings that combine elements of human, animal, machine, or plant, responding to societal changes or current developments in science and technology.
