Dafné Kritharas is a collector: She collects experiences, encounters, impressions – and songs! As the daughter of a French mother and a Greek father, Rebetika and Nissiotika, as well as Sephardic songs, were her cradle songs. On travels through the Balkans, Greece, and Turkey, she absorbed the music of the locals in all languages.

She has always added new themes to traditional melodies, and now she also writes her own songs. Her music tells of the sea, of exile, of longing, and of hope – and it is a plea for the coexistence of cultures.
