Brühler Castle Concerts | Haydn Festival: "Divine Music"

bis 24.08.2025
Location
Schloss Augustusburg, Treppenhaus
Augustusburg and Falkenlust Castle
With Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 43, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 1st Violin Concerto, and a ballet composition by Igor Stravinsky, the Munich Court Orchestra presents its program.

Haydn's art of playing with familiar listening habits can be found in nearly all of his symphonies. Exemplarily, there is No. 43, with which Haydn creates quite an irritation in the final movement – when he slows down the tempo so much that it seems the music is about to fall completely asleep just before its furious finale. With this Haydn-typical stroke of genius, the Hofkapelle Munich, under its artistic director Rüdiger Lotter, opens its program. And after impressing the audience in 2023 with Mozart's 1st Violin Concerto during their guest performance in Brühl, they now continue with the 2nd Violin Concerto. After the break, one of Igor Stravinsky's most successful ballet compositions will be performed: For the story of Apollo, the god of the arts and the muses, he created one of his most captivating neoclassical works in 1928.
