Brühler Schlosskonzerte | Bach at four: "Bach comforts"

16.11.2025
Conductor Andreas Spering has always had a close spiritual and musical relationship with Bach's extensive cantata works. In the beautiful palace church, he lets two sacred cantatas resonate.

To share his admiration for this music, Andreas Spering established the successful concert series "Bach um vier" in 2011. In the beautiful chapel of the palace, two sacred cantatas are performed, about which Spering, as a moderator, knows how to share exciting and interesting information. The two cantatas selected for this concert originate from Bach's early Leipzig years 1723 and 1724. "Ich elender Mensch, wer wird mich erlösen" BWV 48 speaks of the sinfulness of man and the need for forgiveness. Half a year later, Bach found such great pleasure in the still-popular hymn "Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten" that he immortalized it throughout all the movements in the cantata of the same name.
