McArthur's work became known to the broader public for the first time in 2014 through "Ramps," a solo exhibition featuring mobile ramps, signs for disabled parking, and the Wikipedia entry on Marta Russell, a disabled author and activist. Since then, she has demonstrated an engagement with the processes and impacts of disability, delay, dependence – understood as experiences with aesthetic potential and the possibility of finding new forms in numerous solo and group exhibitions. The impossibility of experiencing the exhibition in its entirety represents a fundamental starting point for this project distributed across two locations. With the closely coordinated presentation at the Museum Abteiberg and at mumok, the attempt to realize the same exhibition in more than one place simultaneously addresses hierarchical notions of uniqueness, individuality, independence, and human existence.
