At the center of the performance is love – viewed from a queer perspective.
“Lovedance” transforms the core idea of the love song into a dance form: Two performers encounter each other in a duet that explores aspects of infatuation. Together, they explore the facets of togetherness – between dependence and trust, between leading and following, between resistance and surrender. Their movements draw from a shared repertoire of affect-laden dance traditions and romantic gestures, including the Viennese waltz and the pas de deux. Without shying away from kitsch, a passionate relationship unfolds as a nuanced state of suspension.
