A color-spraying performance about the effects of colonization on PACT Zollverein in Essen.
Imagine: a flower meadow in a desert. This is one of the wonders of Okiep, a former mining region that represents the colonization history of South Africa. The unique choreography rebel Robyn Orlin from South Africa explores the mechanisms of violence and oppression in this region. In Orlin's show, fiction and reality blend together. Five dancers from the Garage Dance Ensemble and two musicians from the band uKhoiKhoi deliver the message: We all have the right to bloom.
A production of the City Theater & Dance Group and Damien Valette Prod.
Co-production: City Theater & Dance Group, Festival Montpellier Danse 2024, Festival de Marseille, Chaillot, Théâtre national de la danse, Paris, Théâtre Garonne, Scène européenne, Toulouse.
