Phoenix of Lights travels to the realm of the Pharaohs

23.01.2025 - 11.04.2025
Whether Tutankhamun, Ramses II, or Nefertiti: Ancient Egypt still evokes a mythically charged fascination. Reason enough to embark on a journey into the world of the pharaohs. Recently, the Phoenix des Lumières explored the depths of the ocean in its immersive exhibition. Now, visitors are diving into ancient Egypt.

Ancient Egypt is one of the most impressive cultures in world history. In the former Phoenix Hall in Dortmund, which has long been regarded as a crowd-puller in North Rhine-Westphalia with its immersive exhibitions known as "Phoenix des Lumières," visitors can immerse themselves in the pompous world of the pharaohs until April. Not only are the monumental pyramids and the magic of the Nile made tangible, but also the complex world of myths and legends that shaped the lives of the ancient Egyptians.

The exhibition is dedicated to the achievements of great rulers such as Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and Nefertiti. Their buildings, reliefs, and artworks document both their divine self-presentation and the central beliefs of their time, in which gods and humans were closely connected and a combination of science and magic was expressed in many narratives and objects.

Another focus of the exhibition is the craft of the pyramid builders, whose work symbolizes not only the pursuit of an afterlife but also the technical and artistic mastery of Ancient Egypt.

The exhibition "In the Realm of the Pharaohs" is complemented by the presentations "The French Orientalists" and "Foreign Nature," which are also included in the ticket.
