In a large tent set up behind the museum, students in the second week of the Easter holidays will encounter a nearly real excavation landscape. Here they will learn what traces in the ground reveal about the lives of people in the Ruhr area over the past 500 years. And how the region has developed into what it is today.
The campaign includes various steps of archaeological field research: Participants measure and document the height and optical peculiarities of already uncovered areas. Afterwards, they themselves search for archaeological evidence with trowel and brush.
The Easter holiday program is free of charge. Registration is requested at: besucherservice-herne@lwl.org or during the museum's opening hours by phone at: Tel. 02323 94628-0.
