Farewell to Lahav Shani in Dortmund

11.05.2025
At the end of his residence at the concert hall, the conductor and pianist delights the audience with a concert of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra together with the Munich Philharmonic.

The Israeli Lahav Shani is likely to be a quite happy man. Because he is not only currently the chief conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2026, he will also take over a second top orchestra with the Munich Philharmonic. Both ensembles are now taking on an almost spectacular role in the finale of Lahav Shani's Dortmund residence, merging under his direction into a single, wonderful orchestra.

At shared stands, Gustav Mahler's 6th Symphony is being performed, which was premiered in 1906 not far from Dortmund, in Essen. Before this symphonic event, an orchestral work arises from the pen of Tzvi Avni, born in Saarbrücken in 1927 and who emigrated with his parents to Palestine in 1935.
