Inspired by Black pop stars of past decades and Pina Bausch's company as the most well-known recent high culture export, Joana Tischkau dissects the homeland narrative of the German entertainment industry with seven performers. Shalala-lalling, the ensemble strides through the annals of pop history and drives out their folk spirit, carnations, and straightness. For her new work, Tischkau digs out another box from the “German Museum of Black Entertainment and Black Music” and continues her artistic research into Black German cultural history.
