"The Anger That Remains": Mareike Fallwickl's Novel on Stage

bis 17.04.2025
Reflecting on gender roles, care work, and the position of women in modern society – these are central aspects in the book from which Christina Gegenbauer has created a version for the stage.

After the suicide of their mother, 15-year-old Lola and her two younger brothers Maxi and Lucius are faced with a devastating puzzle. Neither they nor their father Johannes know why their mother did it. Sarah, their mother's best friend, tries to help the family as best she can. But she also does not have the urgently needed answers.

In a way, Mareike Fallwickl's feminist-influenced novel connects to the famous emancipation dramas of the late 19th century. There is a hint of Ibsen's "Nora" and "Hedda Gabler" in this family story. In that respect, it is only consistent that the director Christina Gegenbauer brings it to the stage.
