In recent years, Schauspiel Köln has consistently taken an artistic stance against racist, misogynistic, and homophobic violence in its productions. In this respect, it is only consistent that Rafael Sanchez now turns to Tobias Ginsburg's "The Last Men of the West." Ginsburg conducted his undercover research across Germany, into the depths of the internet, in the USA, and in Poland, which was published as a book in 2021 and is now coming to the stage in Cologne as a world premiere. Together with a large ensemble, Sanchez immerses himself in the parallel world of fraternity members and neo-Nazis, incels, and identitarians, searching for explanations for the violent hatred of women and homosexuals. The production becomes a journey into the heart of a darkness that threatens our lives and our democracy.
