50. Mülheimer Theatertage Children's Plays: "Erik*a" by Theresa Seraphin

The sibling pair Erika and Klaus Mann was cringe and at the same time cool – already in the European cultural scene 100 years ago. As a "Festival Plus" guest performance, the revue dives into the LGBTQ* world for young people aged 15 and older.

On stage, they presented themselves as androgynous, homosexual, politically demanding, and comedically sharp-tongued. They lived gender diversity and the mixture of self-presentation and art in a way that still seems radical to us today. Starting from the "Man Twins," this revue takes the audience onto the runway of queer performers. Intimate scenes follow performances by Drag Queens and Drag Kings, costume artists appear alongside everyday queer experts. Everything seems private and public at the same time. Playfully, this revue dives into the LGBTQ* world of so many possibilities.

In exchange with the Heidelberg Stückemarkt, the respective award winners of children's and youth theater are shown at the cooperating festival in the following year. "Erik*a," staged for people aged 15 and over, won the Youth Play Award of the Heidelberg Stückemarkt in 2024.
