Zamus 2025: Planet Bach by the Ensemble MuOM and Meteor

29.05.2025
Location
Christuskirche Köln
A sound cosmos between heaven and earth: The Spanish ensemble MuOM brings flute-like, spherical tones into the space with overtone singing – a technique that unfolds spiritual depth. Together with the trio Meteor on historical instruments, a musical journey through Bach's universe is created.

The Spanish ensemble MuOM takes its audience into the heavenly spheres of the seven planets known in the early modern period. And this is achieved through overtone singing, where the singers produce flute-like, otherworldly sounds. The infinite frequencies of the overtone series allow one to transcend the boundary between consciousness and the unconscious – a technique used in various cultures to connect with the divine. The exploration of the harmonic spheres expands in the concert through a musical journey to the planets with movements from Johann Sebastian Bach's "Goldberg Variations," performed by the string trio Meteor on historical instruments. The overtones – a primordial element that holds music and the world together at its core?
