In a translation by Mirjam Pressler, the Paderborn Theater presents "The Diary of Anne Frank" for children aged 10 and up at the Theatertreff as well as in mobile performances.

Anne is a completely normal girl, experiencing the typical tumult of puberty and documenting it in her diary. At the same time, she becomes a victim of one of the darkest chapters in history. For Anne is Jewish and witnesses from her hiding place the persecution of the Jewish population during World War II. Anne is playful, anxious, in love, honest. She provides insights into the inner life of a teenager while simultaneously becoming a deeply personal voice for the victims of the Holocaust.

Anne Frank (1929-1945), born to Jewish parents in Frankfurt, emigrated to Amsterdam with the rise of National Socialism. In 1942, the family goes into hiding in a back house until they are discovered and deported to Auschwitz in 1944. Just before liberation, Anne Frank dies in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. "The Diary of Anne Frank" has been translated into about 70 languages and adapted for stage and film. The former hiding place in Amsterdam has served since 1960 as the "Anne Frank House" – a museum and educational center for discrimination, racism, and anti-Semitism.
