There are countless books about her and her diary, films, podcasts, museums. The inner states of Anne Frank can hardly be adequately conveyed by all the words and facts – but certainly by the music. With his composition from 1969, the Soviet composer Grigori Frid makes the longings and fears of Anne Frank palpable – thereby creating a new level of understanding for today’s younger generation.
Grigori Frid was also a writer and painter. Thus, it seems fitting that his opera is now being presented in an extraordinary format: as a Graphic Opera. The stage design: like a pop-up card. One single person is present on stage; projections make the narrated content vivid – digitally and handmade, documentary and fantastic, with comic, film, gore, and poetry.
