In 1976, Josephine Ann Endicott embodied the role of Anna in Pina Bausch's "The Seven Deadly Sins" with incomparable intensity. Now the work returns to the stage, directed by Endicott and Julie Shanahan.
The piece is based on Bertolt Brecht's ballet libretto, which premiered in 1933. Accompanied by the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra and vocal soloists, the production is being performed again in celebration of Kurt Weill's 125th birthday.
High-profile guests such as Ute Lemper, Erika Skrotzki, and Melissa Madden Gray enrich the ensemble. In the second part follows "Fear Not," a collage of well-known Kurt Weill songs, including pieces from the "Threepenny Opera" and "The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny." A dance evening that is considered one of the milestones of Pina Bausch.
