Film, painting, and performance are linked by Lioba Schmidt in an experimental installation for feeling and participation. Her artistic practice explores the human body and its relationship to social issues: the handling of body modifications, emotions in interpersonal love relationships, and our connection to non-human animals.
Your films and videos represent an open, curious search for the expression of physical sensations. Schmidt is particularly interested in what the female body conceals and how it can be used as a medium for the expression of feelings. For her event at FAK, she is planning an installation that brings together the media of film, painting, and performance in a novel way. In doing so, she is searching for ways to make the feeling of absent closeness and distance tangible.
Lioba Schmidt works as an artist in Cologne and Münster and studied at the Kunstakademie Münster. Her event at FAK takes place as part of her scholarship start3 | Promotion of Young Contemporary Art.
