It is still two years, yet already now soft bells of farewell are ringing. Recently, the General Music Director of Wuppertal, Patrick Hahn, announced that he will not be extending his contract. Yet the symphony orchestra from the Bergisches region is still playing under his direction, including in a new production of Mozart's "Don Giovanni".

The title character: a bounder and anarchist. A role model? Not really, because the opera tells of his downfall, the farewell of a way of life that society simply cannot and does not want to endorse. But the opera also shows how dangerously easy it is to fall for such seducers and to trust them. Mozart's "Dramma giocoso" is therefore a warning to us all!
