The Polish Crown Prince Sigismund, thrown into the dungeon by his father as a child due to a dark prophecy, learns about the world exclusively from the descriptions of his teacher. When his father then tests him as a young man and equips him with all the means and comforts of power, Sigismund reacts with a violent ecstasy that leads to murder and attempted rape. Once again thrust back into the solitude of the dungeon, the prince reflects on his fateful actions. And undergoes a purification.
This parable about the destiny of human existence is presented by the great Spanish dramatist Pedro Calderón de la Barca in his verse play "La vida es sueño" ("Life is a Dream"). In excerpts from the text and symbiotic sound and movement spaces, the dancer and choreographer Martí Corbera interprets it together with the German-Spanish ensemble Marsyas Baroque, intertwining Baroque music and Flamenco dance.
