Who are you?

Why do I have to laugh when you laugh,

I am sad when you are sad,

and I prefer to be happy together with you?

A game with two people and nine sound heads, with few words and song, about the perception of others, outside of our own little ego-world.

For everyone aged 2 and above

A starting point for the play was: "It is the other, the gaze of the other, that defines and shapes us. Without the gaze and response of the other, we cannot understand who we are, (just as we cannot live without eating and sleeping.) Without the acknowledging gaze of another, the newborn abandoned in the forest cannot become a human being and we would die or go insane if we had to live in a community where everyone decided never to look at us and to behave as if we did not exist." "Wide Awake" – 11th International Theater Festival for Young Audiences

From May 17 to 25, the Helios Theater invites productions for young audiences from around the world to Hamm and the surrounding area to create memorable theater experiences. Every two years at "Wide Awake," international artists gather to bring theater for everyone to the stage. Since 2002, the festival has created a space for encounters and exchange.
