The world as a sphere: "Ballroom Bliss" celebrates free dancing

bis 05.04.2025
Dance connects – and that's exactly what deufert&plischke is about in "Ballroom Bliss". The performance creates a world where everyone supports each other and moves as a society. An artistic plea for dance as a social force, inviting people from 5 to 99 years old to join in.

Dance as a community-building phenomenon is at the center of the work of Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke. The boundary between artists and audience is dissolved to create space for a shared dialogue, the special experience. In their new production "Ballroom Bliss", a co-production with the Pina Bausch Center, the two unleash the spherical beings within us: wonderful primal creatures that roll through the world as if they were a solar system. Deuffert and Plischke choreograph the world as a sphere, in which everyone supports each other as a society. The performance marks the beginning of a series of happenings. They use the social power of dance to strengthen its cultural significance of social cohesion. Because the fact is: worldwide, religious and political prejudices against free dance in public spaces are increasing. Dance schools, dance studios, and clubs are already being closed in some societies.

All people aged 5-99 years are welcome.
