In this, Pembo herself is half a potato, her mother is German. Half potato, half köfte – a köftoffel! In short scenes, Bosse tells a story of losses and prejudices. In the end, it is the power of community that helps to overcome things that were thought to be insurmountable. The naturalness with which the author lets her characters glide through two languages – sometimes Turkish, sometimes German – gives this piece a linguistic musicality that broadens our view and ears to the familiar and the foreign. ~ Theresia Walser
