The RLT-Neuss maintains an educational as well as artistic ambition. Reflecting contemporary times as well as history, raising questions, and provoking contradictions are central concerns of the new team. A comprehensive theater education program offers teachers, young people, and interested audiences the opportunity to engage more intensively with the theater or to educate themselves playfully.
In December 2000, the Rhineland State Theater moved to a new domicile in the former Horten department store, which also houses the district administration and a program cinema, the "Hitch Cinema." The architectural redesign of the building with generous panoramic windows and an exciting "light design" was awarded in 2005 as "an exemplary building of the state." The showpiece is the theater with its large performance venue, the drama theater on the first floor. The steeply rising auditorium has 443 seats.
The spacious foyer of the theater offers a view of the city with the Quirinus Cathedral. This unusual space is not only a break foyer but also a venue for events. In the basement of the building, there is a studio stage, particularly suited for plays that require a more intimate setting.
