Located directly in the lively Duisburg Inner Harbor, the Küppersmühle Museum is not only one of the largest private museums in Germany, but also houses one of the most extensive collections of German post-war art.
The center for contemporary art was opened in 1999 in a former grain silo, which dates back to a mill built in 860. This was replaced in 1908 by a three-winged, now seven-story new building, which now houses around 3600 m² of exhibition space. Many of the collection's works come from internationally significant artists such as Candida Höfer, Georg Baselitz, Jörg Immendorff, Rosemarie Trockel, or Gerhard Richter.
With the observation deck opened on April 29, 2024, at a height of 40 meters, the museum is now expanding its artistic portfolio with a breathtaking view from the roof of the Küppersmühle - over the harbor, the city of Duisburg, and the Ruhr area.
