Art on raw concrete in the Art Bunker Bochum

ArtBochumBunker
At Bochumer Baarestraße 68 stands an unusual art venue: a former high-altitude bunker that today serves as an exhibition space. With raw concrete walls, it has been offering the Bochum Artist Association a platform for art and culture since 2022.

The art bunker at Baarestraße 68 in Bochum surprises with a bright entrance area. Wide glass surfaces contrast with the raw concrete walls, providing ideal conditions for art presentations. Originally built as a high bunker with a passage for loading important goods, the building is now a creative space. Since May 2022, it has housed the Bochum Artists' Association, which regularly organizes exhibitions here.

The striking structure from 1941 is located in the Stahlhausen settlement. Later, it was expanded with windows and loft apartments on the roof, while the incomplete brick cladding from wartime was supplemented upwards. Part of the building serves as a storage for the Ruhr Triennale, while 240 square meters are used for the "Kunstbunker" project by the artist Uta Hoffmann.
