This house has a lot to offer. Wilhelm Riphahn built "The Bridge" in 1949/1950 for the British Cultural Institute, British Council. That in 2003 the Cologne Art Association found its new home here is a stroke of luck.
For the building, because it underwent a perfect renovation among the art-loving tenants, and for the internationally renowned art association, founded in 1839, which knows how to make the best of the special opportunities at this unusual location. The former library, a generously glazed section, was converted into an exhibition hall.
In addition, there are cinemas, theaters, and studios that are awarded to emerging artists from Cologne as part of a scholarship. Riphahn's house offers almost ideal conditions for conveying current artistic positions – as they often can hardly be limited to a specific medium of expression.
