In the portrait: The club "King Georg"

Its past as a dive can hardly be concealed by the "King Georg". Surrounding wood paneling, leather seats in separate areas, and chrome bars make the Cologne bar look like a crime scene set.

On the other hand, it is precisely the claustrophobic half-world atmosphere that gives the King Georg its charm. And of course, the program. The concerts fall into two categories that sometimes overlap: international newcomers and exotic insider tips. One day, a hipster band from Brooklyn performs, the next day, a three-member girl metal band from Tokyo plugs in their guitars. Or the band "Hall und Rauch" has a performance.

Not that it’s only about music at King Georg. There are also regular author readings and even film screenings. How much this small bar has established itself in the cultural life of Cologne can be seen, among other things, by the fact that there has even been a collaboration with the Museum Ludwig. Cologne’s most important exhibition house allowed the King Georg creators to organize concerts on the museum roof.
