In Tokyo, New York, Perth, and many European cities, Jeppe Hein has transformed public space into a place of contemporary art. The Danish artist, who lives in Berlin, always seeks to involve the local people. On behalf of the city of Monheim, he has now designed his first playground.
Monheim's center is to become more beautiful. As part of the current construction measures, the Eierplatz is also being redesigned. Here, Jeppe Hein comes into play. The specialist in public art has designed an interactive ensemble that alters and redefines the existing benches and streetlights.
The Dane turns the street furniture into slides, climbing objects, and swings. An additional playful element is provided by a type of water pavilion - almost a trademark of Jeppe Hein's works: immaterial walls made of water rise and fall at regular intervals. The challenge for the interactive user is to move across the slippery surface without getting wet.
