In the portrait: Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum

ArtHistoryAachen
The Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum is the "salon" of the Akeners. In the Cassalette house, a magnificent city palace from the 19th century, precious collections are housed.

Outstanding is the medieval sculpture collection, one of the most significant in Germany. Also excellently represented here are German and Dutch panel painting of the late Gothic period as well as Dutch masters of the Baroque era. In addition, there is a small, fine collection of paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, a cabinet of prints, and a comprehensive collection of artisanal pieces, with the finest pieces on display in the “Bürgerliche Wunderkammer”.
