In the portrait: Schauburg

FilmCinemas in NRWVenu
The cinema in Gelsenkirchen was built in 1929 with 1400 seats – a true movie palace.

Later, the hall was divided into three smaller screening rooms. However, the aura of a large theater building with corridors and spectacular staircases can still be felt everywhere today. The "Schauburg" is a premiere cinema with state-of-the-art technology. But there is also something very special in the program: on every third Saturday of the month, "The Mysterious Film Club Buio Omega" is a guest.

Then, forgotten and obscure masterpieces of exploitation cinema are shown in a double feature. The film club is a non-commercial, purely private initiative of enthusiasts of the genre, who also provide knowledgeable introductions to the programs. Their motto "What you miss with us is irretrievably lost to you" is exactly correct – the program is unique in Europe.
