In the portrait: Centre Charlemagne – New City Museum Aachen

HistoryAachen
The Centre Charlemagne presents in a museum exhibition the history of Aachen and the role that Charlemagne played in it.

As the "Myth of Karl" is not only a local phenomenon but also a European one, a part of Europe's history is reflected in the history of Aachen. This is most clearly seen in certain epochs, to which sections of the exhibition are dedicated. They showcase Carolingian Aachen, the medieval city of coronations, Napoleonic Aix-la-Chapelle, and the "European city" of the present. Temporary exhibitions, a museum education area, and a café complement the Centre Charlemagne.
