People in Tokyo often commute up to two hours to work. So, the remote work that became widespread during the Corona times was initially a gift – four more hours of life! But then there were the cramped apartments and the isolation. This is where Toshiki Okada comes in - undoubtedly one of the most idiosyncratic and fascinating theater makers of our time. His plays and productions repeatedly address the burdens of our neoliberal reality, threatened by more and more crises. He draws on classic Japanese theatrical traditions as well as typical motifs from pop culture. In his first work at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, he will now specifically deal with the pandemic, which he has rather indirectly addressed in his last productions. There will also be plenty of room for Okada's dry-absurd humor in »Homeoffice«.
The premiere will take place in April.
