Guided tours and "Bunker Game" at the Bunker Museum Hagen

In the Hagen Bunker Museum, history is experienced up close. The high bunker from 1942 once served as a shelter, later as a hotel, club venue, and storage. Today, the museum showcases the largely preserved basement - with technical equipment and a defused 250-kilogram aerial bomb.

The private bunker museum in Hagen makes history tangible in a compelling way – with tours including air raid alerts or an interactive "Bunker Game". The game takes players into the cellar catacombs of the war museum. Each player receives a puzzle booklet with questions that can only be answered by closely observing the rooms, technology, displays, and posters. From all the solved questions, the solution to the bunker puzzle is also derived, which must be cracked. The high bunker was completed in 1942 and offered space for about 1200 people in its 132 rooms. Even during the war, bombed-out families rented sleeping places there.

After the war, the use of the building changed several times: it was initially a windowless hotel, then a warehouse, later a driving school and a clubhouse for a handball and a shooting club. Today, the bunker serves as a props storage for the Hagen City Theater. The basement is largely preserved in its original condition and shows, in addition to technical equipment, a 250-kilogram aerial bomb that has been defused in the urban area. You can also explore the bunker online – a virtual tour takes you through the memorial.
