A website shows 1700 years of Jewish life in Dortmund.

ArtHistory
Jewish life in Germany looks back on a history of more than 1700 years. In Dortmund, a website tells about Jewish life in the Ruhr area city.

Users can find numerous photos and texts related to Jewish Dortmund at https://juedisches-dortmund.de – from the Middle Ages through the early modern period to the present day. This includes, for example, photos of the Old Synagogue, which was destroyed in 1938 just before the Reichstag pogrom night. The Dortmund Stolpersteine are also presented with the help of an interactive map.

Behind each stone lies the story of a victim of National Socialism. The map also allows you to discover sites of Jewish history and present, including Jewish cemeteries, the current Jewish primary school, or former Jewish department stores.

For those who find the virtual experience insufficient, the site also offers many tips to get to know Jewish life in Dortmund in an analog way - concerts, readings, exhibitions, and excursions.
